If you're too busy to say hello, you're too busy to lead

If you're too busy to say hello, you're too busy to lead

It’s easy to walk into the office, head down, and ignore everyone

You’ve got a massive task list, back-to-back meetings, and urgent emails waiting before you've even sat down. So you walk in, head straight for your desk, and dive in.

It’s understandable. But it's also where culture quietly starts to drift.

Culture filters from the top down, always.

When leaders are constantly too busy to say hello, use people’s names, or look up in the hallway, it sends an immediate signal: tasks matter, people are background noise.

We spend so much time talking about complex culture strategies, but real psychological safety often starts with the basics.

Taking ten seconds to pause, say good morning, and really see someone isn't a fluffy nice-to-have. It shows your team that they exist to you beyond their output.

If a leader is routinely too busy to acknowledge the human beings doing the work, they’re simply too busy.
